We are moving and switching boarding facilities. My 3yr old horse currently gets feed elk grove milling pellets twice a day and grass hay every other day. She currently is in a 3 acre pasture. With the new move the facility is offering oat hay in the morning and alfalfa at night. She is not in heavy training and is in good health. Any suggestion to make a healthy transition would be so greatly appriciated!!!Thank you
ween her slowly. i would start as soon as possible. start by giving her a handfull of the new grasses once or twice a day for a few days and then move her up. we have 44 horses and we are weening them onto fresh grass right now (they get hay all winter). not many of our horses are easy keepers so the transition is tedious but its worth the time to avoid colic.
